Ransomware Is High Tech Extorsion That You Must Protect Yourself From

by webdefenseadmin

Ransomware is a high tech way of extorting money from the innocent. Ransomware is a piece of malicious software (malware) that gets installed on a users computer and prevents or limits the user from accessing their system, or files. Essentially, the system or files are locked until a ransom is paid to the person or persons who installed the ransomware.

Ransomware attacks are becoming more and more prevalent as more and more internet users emerge – but you can combat it!

With a good antivirus software, you are able to prevent ransomware from gaining access to your computer. The antivirus software will routinely scan your system or device in order to remove ransomware if it should happen to slip through. Most, reputable antivirus software’s will also stop ransomware threats in ‘real time’ also.

Ransomware is often spread via malicious emails or malicious downloadable content. In recent years, ransomware is also passed through popular social messaging systems. Attackers may send an image, file or link to view via a social media messenger. If you don’t know the person sending the content – DO NOT OPEN IT. If you do, there is a good chance that it may open up and install ransomware on your device – without you even knowing!

If you should happen to be the victim of a ransomware attack, do not send money to anyone. If you don’t understand how to fix the ransomware issue you are experiencing, you should call a professional and have them attempt to unlock your computer and remove the ransomware properly.
